Flood damage. Prolonged exposure to flooding conditions can lead to a host of problems, including nutrient deficiencies, root death due to a lack of oxygen, and numerous soil-borne pathogens. Raised beds help improve drainage. Vegetables exposed to flood waters may need to be discarded to be in accordance with food safety regulations.
